MTTR

Mean Time To Repair

MTTR (Mean Time To Repair) measures the maintainability and efficiency of the technical team. It is the average time from when a breakdown is reported until the asset is fully operational again.

This time includes several phases:

  • Notification and assignment time.
  • Travel time to the location.
  • Diagnosis time.
  • Actual repair time.
  • Verification and closure time.

The direct impact on citizens

For a municipality, MTTR is the metric of public perception. Citizens don't technically care why a traffic light isn't working; they care how long it's off. A low MTTR means agile service and satisfied citizens.

How to reduce MTTR with Maptainer

Most of the time lost in MTTR is not the repair (tightening the screw), but logistics and information. Maptainer attacks "dead time" to reduce overall MTTR:

  • Instant Assignment: The order reaches the nearest technician's mobile (geolocation), eliminating wait times.
  • Information at Hand: The technician arrives at the breakdown already knowing the asset's brand and model and seeing its history. No time wasted investigating what spare part is needed.
  • Precise Location: In rural areas or large parks, finding the breakdown can take hours. With Maptainer's GPS, the operator goes straight to the target.
