Remote Management

Remote Facility Management

Remote Management (telegestión) is the remote control and monitoring of technical installations. In street lighting, it allows turning on, off, or dimming luminaire intensity from a control center, without needing to send an operator to physically handle the electrical panel.

Remote Management Levels

There are two main levels:

  • At Header (Control Cabinet): Controls on/off switching for the entire circuit.
  • Point-to-Point: Each luminaire has a communication node, allowing individual streetlight regulation.

Benefits: Savings and Flexibility

Remote management is the most powerful tool for active energy efficiency. It allows adapting light to actual needs: lowering intensity to 50% during late night hours, or raising it to 100% during events or emergencies, generating massive electrical savings.

The proprietary systems problem and the Maptainer solution

The big headache with remote management is that each manufacturer has their own closed software. If you buy Philips luminaires, you use their software; if you buy Schréder, you use theirs. The municipal technician ends up with 5 different screens open.

Maptainer bets on integration. Although we don't replace the manufacturer's control software (which operates the hardware), we act as the management integrator:

  • Unified visualization: We display on a single map which assets have remote management and which don't.
  • Centralized alarms: We receive failure alarms from different remote management systems and generate unified work orders for crews.
  • Single vision: We centralize information so the manager has a unified view of reality, regardless of the luminaire brand.
