Digital Twin

Digital Twin

A Digital Twin is a virtual replica of a physical object, process, or system. It's not just a pretty 3D model; it's a dynamic model that feeds on real data and evolves over time, reflecting the exact state of its physical counterpart.

In the urban context, a city's Digital Twin allows you to visualize where assets are, how they behave, and simulate what would happen if we change certain variables (e.g., "What energy savings would we have if we changed all the luminaires in this neighborhood to LED?").

Digital Twin maturity levels

You don't need a video game-like 3D model to have a useful Digital Twin:

  • Descriptive: Georeferenced digital inventory with all technical attributes (What Maptainer does).
  • Informative: Connected to real-time sensors (IoT).
  • Predictive: Capable of anticipating failures through AI.
  • Autonomous: Capable of making corrective decisions on its own.

Maptainer: Your first functional Digital Twin

For the vast majority of municipalities, the immediate goal is to have an Operational Digital Twin. Maptainer builds this virtual replica of your infrastructure. By having every control panel, every line, and every light point inventoried with GPS precision and linked to its electrical diagram, we create a digital environment where technicians can consult, analyze, and manage the network without having to physically travel.

It's the essential foundational step before dreaming of complex simulations.
